The Tactile Feedback Device (TFD®) is a key component of all-electric and electro-hydraulic Steer-by-Wire (SbW) systems. These devices form an integrated solution that combines bearing support, steering position sensing, communication and continuously variable resistive steering torque, providing highly realistic tactile feedback and maximum driver control. The resistive steering feedback is fully programmable, with customised algorithms based on the equipment operating conditions.

The LORD TFD® is a multi-function device that provides both an incredibly smooth control feel (through the use of MR (Magnetically Responsive) technology) and reliable and redundant control signals (including CAN functionality). Our TFD controller is maintenance-free and will never need to be inspected or adjusted during its expected lifetime. In addition, there are very few moving parts in the TFD, which significantly improves durability. All this adds up to a compact, robust, energy-efficient, easy-to-install and maintenance-free design.

Where are electrically operated tactile feedback controllers used?
We have been a pioneer in SbW controllers since 1999, when the first unit began production in a forklift application.
