The AC30 variable speed series is a modular product that allows users to select a power stack, control module, IO and communication modules plus accessories to perfectly match the application requirements, making it a highly customisable yet cost-effective solution. The AC30 series is based on a variety of basic system power module components that can be combined to create a number of different power configurations. All variants are available in power classes from 0.75 to 450 kW, with the option of either AC or DC supply. When combined with one of the AC30 control modules, a variable speed drive is produced, providing the user with exceptional levels of motor control, from simple open loop pumps and fans to closed process line applications. Note: The interchangeable AC30 control modules are available separately and offer three levels of intelligent automation control - see the "AC30 Series [Control Modules]" page in the Recommended Products section for more information.

Features/Benefits:
710 standard AC inverter modules:
AC-fed inverter suitable for use with a 380...480 VAC input. It can be used either as a stand-alone drive or as an AC input drive in a multi-drive application.
740 DC-fed inverter modules:
DC-fed inverter for use with a 500...700 VDC input. It can be used as a stand-alone drive where a suitable DC supply is available, or most often as part of a multi-drive system.
■ Active Front End (AFE):
Both the 710 and 740 power stacks can operate in AFE control mode when used with the correct control module to provide a regenerative feed with unity power factor and four quadrants.
Areas of use:
- Industrial pumps
- Driven pumps
- Industrial fans
- Conveyors / Handling
- Lifts / elevators
- Cranes and lifting devices
- Centrifuges
- Extruders
- Test benches
- Wind machines
Versatile power configurations:
The AC30 Series can be configured to operate in a number of different power configuration modes to suit the exact requirements of your application. The modularity of the AC30 Series allows different combinations of system components to be easily selected and installed to achieve the desired design, eliminating significant amounts of prep work.
■ Common DC bus system (DC supply from a single drive)
Common DC bus system using a standard AC-fed inverter (710) to supply the DC link to multiple DC-fed inverters (740). This design allows power sharing between drives, limiting the need for braking resistors. The power of the drives on the DC bus must not exceed twice the power of the supply drive.
Common DC bus system (AC supply to all drives)
Common DC bus system with multiple AC-fed standard converters (710) with DC bus connection to all converters. This design allows power sharing between converters, limiting the need for braking resistors. It is necessary to consider input chokes that may be needed on each converter to balance the input currents between the converters.
Joint DC bus system (Active Front End - AFE)
Common DC bus system using a 710 or 740 power stack and AC30P/D control modules acting as the AFE supply unit. The AFE must have the correct LCL filter to provide a pulse width modulated (PWM) controlled IGBT converter solution to enable bi-directional current flow to the AC mains. AFE is designed for high regeneration level applications to the power supply as no energy is wasted in braking resistors. The AFE solution also provides low harmonics, unity power factor and can provide voltage boost.
