Transair couplings for aluminium pipes are installed quickly and with minimal tool use. All Transair couplings are designed to fit securely around Transair aluminium piping, increasing system efficiency and preventing compressed air leaks. Transair couplings are available in a variety of designs for easy assembly and layout design of compressed air, vacuum and industrial\/inert gas systems. All Transair components can be integrated into existing copper or steel systems, allowing easy expansion of an existing system.<\/p>\n
The 'full bore' design of Transair couplings, combined with the low coefficient of friction of the aluminium tube, ensures optimal flow throughout the compressed air system. All couplings are 100 % recyclable, silicone-free and made of flame retardant materials. All fittings meet the UL94HB standard. Parker Hannifin warrants all Transair components to be free from defects in material and workmanship for 10 years from date of installation.<\/p>\n
Transair 1\/2\" (16.5 mm), 1\" (25 mm) and 1-1\/2\" (40 mm) couplings use push-to-connect technology. All couplings are shipped from the factory pre-tightened and labelled. To install, simply push the pipe into the fitting until the insertion mark meets the end of the fitting. There is no need to further tighten the coupling nut. All 1\/2\" 1\" and 1-1\/2\" pipe is shipped from the factory with the insertion depth pre-labelled, but if field sawing is required, the insertion depth must be marked with a Transair marking tool.<\/p>\n
Transair 2\" (50 mm) and 2-1\/2\" (63 mm) couplings use snap ring technology. With a snap ring coupling, a polyamide retaining ring is inserted into two holes at the end of the pipe. This ring, along with the tightening of the coupling nuts with a wrench, prevents the coupling from coming loose from the pipe. All 2\" and 2-1\/2\" pipes are shipped from the factory with the snap ring holes pre-drilled, but if field sawing is required, the snap ring holes must be drilled with a Transair drill jig.<\/p>\n
The Transair 3\" (76 mm), 4\" (101 mm) and 6\" (168 mm) couplings use clamshell technology. The clamshell coupling has a removable cartridge (seal) that fits over the pipe end and is prevented from slipping by the lugs on the pipe end. The coupling is then fitted over the lugs and cartridge and bolted in place with a cross pattern to prevent the bolts from loosening. All 3\" 4\", and 6\" pipes come from the factory with pre-cut lugs, but if field cutting is required, the lugs must be made with a Transair lug tool and die.<\/p>\n
